Can I replace the motherboard of my HP desktop with any other mATX motherboard and the same processor socket? I hered that the led connection won't work with the orginal case

Yes, you can.

It is 'most likely' You can put any matx board in that case,
if the led connector is different to normal boards just leave it disconnected. It wont affect operations.
