I play bf4 ultra maxed out and get an average of 148fps in 1080p and was wondering if my rig would handle an upgrade to a 2560 x 1440p monitor and if i would still be able to play ultra.
Thanks

More than likely, Because your going up a resolution you should drop your AA because they are more pixels, so the game is naturally smoother anyway. Some settings on ultra and some on high would definitely run at about 110-140 FPS on your card. In the future if you wanted even more performance, you could then purchase another GPU and run crossfire, which has good scaling in BF4. and you'd run everything maxed at 130-140 FPS easily.

Thanks for your reply! i think i will be getting myself a new monitor now, but would you recommend getting another r9 290 or getting 2 new r9 390s? or do they run similar? Thanks

The r9 390's do run a bit better and have Direct X12 support so if you have the cash then the 390's are worth it. People will always buy older cards so if you are going to get a 390 then put your 290 on ebay or craigslist and it will sell guaranteed. It's up to you man but I would defiantly go crossfire just for that bit more FPS if you know where I'm coming from. If your fine with about 110 FPS maxed then just get another 290 but if you want more then 2 390's is the way to go.

i might just stick with one for the time being and get a 1440p monitor, then keep my build for a while until i cant run latest games in high then get a new build.

Probably the best option instead of spending more money on an older GPU now. The ew AMD and Nvidia cards are boasting some big performance upgrades so I'd wait for them if I were you. If you can hold on til volta, the architecture after Pascal, you will get some massive performance gains. Exciting times ahead in terms of graphical power!
