Can I run 144hz through my GPU if it only has DVI-D?

So I was about to order a 144hz monitor for FPS gaming.

I decided to go with the ViewSonic XG2402 ( https://www.amazon.com/ViewSonic-XG2402-FreeSync-Monitor-DisplayPort/dp/B075D1B4SV/ref=sr_1_31?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1514340579&sr=1-31&keywords=144hz+monitor ). But then I realize that it only has Displayport and HDMI and my GPU which is a MSi Gaming GTX 750 Ti SC 2GB ( http://www.guru3d.com/index.php?ct=articles&action=file&id=9230 ) only has DVI-D and HDMI ports.

So I don't know if HDMI is capable to run at 144hz or do I have to buy a Displayport to DVI-D cable.

My question is, am I going to be able to play at 144hz with my current setup or is my only option to upgrade my GPU ?

Thanks in advance.

Solution
DVI-D will not handle the high refresh rate you are looking for.

HDMI however can, but actual support depends on the version.

Most GTX 750 Ti cards should have an HDMI 1.4 port on them, which at the 1080p resolution of the screen you've linked to should handle up to 144 Hz refresh.

Yes, the HDMI port on that monitor supports 144 Hz. You can also use a DVI to HDMI adapter if your GPU does not have any HDMI ports.
