Have an AMD Radeon RX 580 2048SP.
Win 11, 32 gig ram
the adapter has 1 HDMI and 1 Display port.
UNI-DIRECTIONAL CABLE: Connects signal from DisplayPort (on adapter) to HDMI only (on monitor)
2 exact same Phillips monitors.
PC works great, trying to get the other monitor to run streaming TV.
Ran Sling TV and youtube on current monitor no problem.
Can this be done/configured so it works:
on my PC w/ 1 monitor so I can work, coding, Excel, etc
and, Stream Sling TV/youtube on the other monitor?
Tried a few display adjustments but no luck
any advice greatly appreciated.

i have a fix from another place:
Have both your displays connected to the PC, the way you want them to be connected from now on.

  • Right-click on the Desktop and click on "Display settings"
    • At this point, you will see 1 Display being active, the 2nd inactive
  • Scroll down to Multiple Displays and select "Duplicate these displays"
  • Right below, click on Advanced display settings
  • Within the new screen > Display adapter properties for Display 1
  • Within the pop-up > Monitor tab (at the top) > Set the refresh rate to the highest your Display Port monitor has and Apply
  • Within the Multiple displays settings > switch to Extend these displays
You should now have both your displays available individually. is this right?

Yes, that appears to be correct. That is how my system is setup. Yesterday, for example, I watched a F1 race on my second display, while I did work on my primary display.

Extend actually extends your desktop and lets you use the additional display(s) in an independent fashion. The race I mentioned was in a separate window of Firefox.

So i should follow the instructions in the instructions I put up there?
Right? Just so I know it works. Thanks for the insight. When i tried it the mouse seemed to be lost or on the other screen, i had to use the tab key to get around... I had to fool around just to get back control. It was a little weird, but if it can be done? I'll get 'er done
I'll just put into it the time to get it right, right?
Any other hints or gotchas? oh, thank you very much for your time and insights..
saved me a lot of time!!
