An NVMe in a PCIe slot adapter...mostly a waste of time and money, unless you got the 3rd drive very very cheap.

Should work......try it.

If your son is going to keep downloading games consider changing the mix.
One m.2 for the OS and apps.
Use 2.5 sata for the game storage.

There are 4 sata ports so you can expand as needed.

Another M.2 drive is absolutely not needed for that.

The differences between various flavors of solid state drives is much less than what people think.
