Question Can I run a 2666MHz RAM stick and downclock it on a motherboard that supports 2400MHz ram?

Hey guys I have the Gigabyte GA-H110M-S2PT motherboard with a Intel Core i7 6700.

Can I run a 2666MHz ram stick on the motherboard that supports 2400MHz max. since I couldn't find a 2400MHz stick on the market (I'm in a 3rd world country so latest parts are quite limited here). The 2400MHz ones that are available are more expensive than the basic 2666MHz one (since the 2400MHz ones are the Gaming ones like Corsair).

The RAM I found : ADATA 8GB Premier DDR4 2666 Unbuffered-DIMM Memory AD4U266638G19-R

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, you can use 2666mhz rated ram modules.
They will run at 2133mhz with i7-6700 on this motherboard though.
