Can I run a 6950 2 gig (unlocked 6970 shaders) with 520 watt Seasonic?

I ended up getting this PSU, because I thought that I was going to get a GTX 460, but now I'm thinking about spending an extra C-note and getting one of the 6950's that everybody is unlocking the shaders to a 6970. I know this card needs a lot of power, and the Seasonic is actually a decent PSU, but I would have gotten a stronger PSU if I knew I was going to consider the 6950. I was thinking maybe a 5850 or GTX 460, so I didn't think I'd run into problems.

yes. Seasonic is one of the best if not the best makers of PSU's. Just look at most if not all of the top models XFX, Corsair, Antec etc has and check their OEM. Yup made by seasonic.

Thats a solid PSU you have there and yes it can run a 6950 unlocked and whatever else you might put it in (with a decent OC).

I'll also be overclocking the i5 2500k of course, otherwise, no need for the 212+. I'm just a total PC newb, so I don't know how to calculate precise loads on the PSU, etc, etc.

I'm a new Hyper 212 Plus fan. I just put one in a machine I built today (for music production) and it keeps the CPU a couple of degrees (C) cooler with its one fan than my H50 does with a push/pull fan setup on my gaming machine (in my signature). I got the 212 Plus for $25 after rebates whereas the H50 with the 2 better than stock H50 fans cost was around a $100 investment. I feel like Corsair really pulled one over on me with that one. We live and learn...

But the 212 Plus... Talk about a cost-effective cooling solution! It's really a decent product!

That should be able to run it... The 6950 needs a minimum of a 500w psu. If you unlock the shaders, you'll be pushing the limits for your psu. The 6970 is rated for a 550w psu. You should be able to run the 6950, but you may end up hitting the limit of what your power supply can really take if you start doing a lot of heavy overclocking...

Just one more comment... I bought two 6950s a couple weeks ago and installed them incrossfire. These cards are AWESOME!
