I have 2 pcs a optiplex 9010 which is the Desktop model tall but thin which i am going to try to exchange with the ebay seller which had a 30 days return policy to the MT model which is tall and wide. And a dell vostro 260. I am currently wondering if I can temporarily run a evga 750 ti ftw without the 6 pin plugged in as the psu on the Dell vostro 260.

Solution
the card will look for the cable on boot-up and not find it. the problems start there.

it will not work, can't be done and no amount of wishful thinking is gonna make it happen :)

no you can not. the 6 pin is there because the gpu needs the extra power to run. leaving it off will not allow the card to work properly and will likely cause all kinds of issues system wide such as not booting, crashing randomly and other problems.

I understand it may cause some problems, however for somelight gaming will it allow it to work for a bit without damage to the card or other components? I will be getting a psu with proper cables for the card.
