Can I run an unlocked CPU on Mobo with 4-pin CPU power socket

I manage to scrap an i7-3770k from the recycling centre. The question is can I run the cpu on a motherboard with only 4-pin power cpu socket? I'm not thinking of OCing the cpu anyway.

Certainly. As long as the motherboard supports the CPU they will be expecting it to run at its TDP of 77W.
