Can I run dual non-mirroring monitors from a single HDMI port?

I'm not doing anything fancy. I simply want to run two non-mirroring split monitors from my laptop, however, it only has one HDMI port. Is there an easy way to do this? My last kid just left for college so I'm alone in the woods. Laptop has 1 multi-format SD media card reader expansion slot; 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 (data transfer only); 1 USB 2.0; 1 HDMI; 1 RJ-45. I have no idea what any of that means. Assume your speaking to a techno-moron. You won't be far off the mark. Thanks.

No but you can use a usb to hdmi adapter.

^yep, i'm running a USb3.0 to DP setup to give 1440p30 for my wife, works great.
