Hi gang,

My internet in my house is crap, my router is on the other side of the house, and my main workstation is, as said, an entire's ranch sized house away. I am going to solve this problem by running an Ethernet cable outside to a router in my office. But here's my issue, a good 3rd of the cable will be exposed on the west side, so consequently it will be exposed to the sun.

I bought a black sheath cat6e 23awg Ethernet cable. Will this be suitable for long use? Will it handle the elements? How about the suns UV rays"

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it, and have a wonderful day!

You should not want to leave it exposed as that is going to cause degradation of the outer coating faster, cover it if possisble that also protects it from being damaged. Also not the max cable run for cat6 is 100 meters or 328 feet you said this stretch is quite a distance so may need a repeater. Lastly, if you are planning on running two routers I highly suggest you just buy a wireless access point and do your run to that, using two routers can be a headache or do your run and place a switch at the other end connect you wap to it and then if you want to have any cabled devices on that end you can connect them to the switch.
