Solution
the 10 series cards from Nvidia can have issues with older mobo's. Technically the GPU will fit in the slot. Technically it should run (it doesn't require extra power connectors). But with older bios', sometimes the cards are not recognized, as mentioned the reason being the lack of UEFI bios.

9 series cards (like a GTX960) or 7 series (GTX750ti) may work straight away.

If you google 'gt1030 +PCIe 1.0 mobo problems' you will see plenty of posts about it. Some users report being able to get the card to work. If you are going to buy the GT1030, i would make sure you have the latest bios for your motherboard. But that is still no guarantee it will work. You could try search for your GPU/Mobo combo and see if others have managed to get...

If it were me, I wouldn't buy the card, because it's hard to determine if it will work 100%. That's not good enough for me. SO I wouldn't buy it. But it's your choice.

I used to have a Q6600 based system, and I had a GTX560ti working just fine. Didn't require a UEFI bios. But that's changed for the newer series cards.
