I have 5 fans installed and the power supply still overheats.

Never heard about that PSU, R9 290x needs a really stable and quality PSU, you should buy a decent one (at least 750W).

You can try Corsair like the one I'm using which is 4yrs old and still performs well. You can also try Silverstone or Seasonic. Those are quality PSU too.
