I have a old Pavilion Elite HPE 410y with AMD Phenom 2 1045T six-core processor and a 8 GB DDR3 system memory and a 300w power supply. I am looking to upgrade the graphics card to a EVGA® 2GB Plug-in Card 5400 MHz GeForce GTX 750 Ti Graphic Card. Will it work for my PC?

Solution

your computer has one gen 2 pci-e 16x slot, this is fast enough for any GPU, so all you have to do is unplug your current GPU and plug in the 750ti in the same slot.
The graphics card it came with is the ATI Radeon HD 5570 series which is a really outdated card. Will the GTX 750 be able to fit in the computer and plug without getting bottlenecked?

The GTX 750Ti will fit just fine in your Pavilion Elite HPE 410y. It looks like a medium tower and the 750 is a small card. Just make sure to buy a version without the extra 6-pin PCIe plug. Your 300W power supply probably lacks that extra cable. Most 750 Ti versions do not require that cable but better to double check.

I asked someone from best buy and they told me no it wouldn't work because it has a PCI express x16? Confused as people say "oh it will work" or "oh it won't work" x) I am trying to be very careful before I end up throwing 150$ + down the drain. Can you explain further? Sorry I have never replaced something in a computer before.
