Right now i have 2 4gb ram sticks and my motherboard can support 4 and im thinking of upgrading to 16 gb ram in the future so should i buy 2 more 4gb ram sticks so I can run quad channel or what should I do?
Motherboard: Asus prime z370-p
Ram: Crucial ballistix sport lt 8gb

Solution
Well long answer ...

1) Your motherboard/cpu only support dualchannel, hasn't got to do with how many sticks you use.
2) adding ram may give problems,it's not guaranteed to work. Read from the following,

"Just Adding More Dram".

In reality it's about trying, make sure to get another set as close as possible in specs, really if you can the same sticks you use,but still no guarantee it will work.We could make maybe some adjustments to voltage and maybe other settings to make things work together, but that would be after testing initially.

If you can would getting a 16gb set (2x8gb) be the best and sell what you own to recuperate some money.
You can't run quad-channel on this motherboard, only dual channel. Also mixing sticks/kits is always unpredictable, it may work or not, even if you buy exactly same kit as you already have. Safest approach is sell your 2x4 and buy 2x8 kit instead if you need more RAM.

Solution
Motherboard/cpu will only support single channel and dual channel modes. For best compatibility it's best to buy a 16Gb kit(either 4x4gb or 2x8Gb) as there is no garantee another 8gb kit will play nicely with your current set(even if they are the same models).
