Can I run SLI in same card model but different speed?

Hello there People. I have a question to do. I own a Asus Strix GTX 1080 TI. Can I run SLI if I get the ASUS Strix 1080 TI OC model?

It should work fine, the fastest card should drop down to the speed of the slower card.

Before you drop so much money on gpu’s you do realise all the limitations of SLi in modern games?
