So basically I'm trying to build a cheap pc that can play SOME games, and i happened to come across a Lenovo ThinkCentre M58 with Core 2 Duo clocked at 3.0 Ghz, 4 gb of ram, and 250 hard drive. It also comes with a 280w power supply. I was wondering if I could connect a MSI GeForce GT 710 1GB Low profile gpu into it. It says that it needs a 300w power supply when im planning to buy a pc with 280. If it cant, can you recommend to me some gpu's? Thanks.

Again, check out the videos. The GT 1030 will do the job with reduced settings.
Your processor may be a bit more limiting than the ones in the videos due to it having to handle lots of players on a busy server. Older dual cores can have trouble keeping up.

So the GT 1030 could work with my pc?

Easily. The GT 1030 is only a 30W card. Should give you medium settings at 720p in most games.
If this is the PSU in your machine, it has a 17 amp +12V rail. Same as the one I had. Mine was running a 60W GTX 1050 Ti w/o problems. But I did so at my own risk, because I didn't care about the machine.

I also have another question. Since Im getting a ThinkCentre m58, can i upgrade to a Core 2 Quad Q6600 without having to replace anything but the power supply (I might replace it)

Yes you can. I had an even later Q9550 in mine last. Is this the Lenovo you're thinking of buying?

No, I was talking about the Small Form Factor. Sorry that I forgot to mention that.

Ah. That makes a bit of a difference. The card must be true single slot then, right? Is this the inside of your machine?

Yup.

So can I still use a q9550 with it?

So as of now, I am planning to get an M58 SFF with a 280w PSW. It has 4 gb of ram and originally comes with core 2 duo e8400. So basically, I will upgrade to Q6600 and get an MSI GeForce gt 710 1gb ddr3. Will this be enough for the power supply to handle?

Yes, the PSU should be fine with the GT 710. But you won't be happy with it unless you game on a low rez monitor at low settings.

So instead of the gt 710, can I use this? https://m.ebay.com/itm/MSI-GT-1030-2G-LP-OC-GeForce-GT-1030-Graphic-Card-2-GB-GDDR5-Low-profile-/122530702387?epid=896789687&hash=item1c87662433%3Ag%3AgDQAAOSwCQZZMnhF&_trkparms=pageci%253A77c0aa02-a36c-11e7-986d-74dbd180f882%257Cparentrq%253Ac2d3763a15e0ab4d2da0133bffcd39a0%257Ciid%253A1

If you haven't bought a pc yet, you might look at something like this one instead.

You would at least get an i3, and probably be able to put an older i5 or i7 in later. But more than that, since it's slightly more standardized, you should be able to upgrade the power supply and go for an even better graphics card when you have more money available down the road.

Yes. Much better choice than the GT 710.
