you could repair it, like I repaired a dozen of them !
First of all: check if behind the fan there is dust in form of a carpet (1 to 5 millimeters of dust).
Remove it and try again ! If the card can't cool enough then you won't be able to run high-graphic games !
Next solution could be that the graphics-chip has broken contacts.
For this you need to know how they can break... well: the graphics chip has hundreds of little balls of tin/lead making circuits between the chip and the card. Suppose one is broken and the surrounding balls are expanding with the temperature then the circuit trough the broken ball is cut !
The simpliest solution for that is to heat the chip to 180°C (for the US just check in °F) keep the temperature for a few minutes and let it cool down slowly. Once the card is cold again, put back into the computer and test your drivers.
CAREFULL: Remove components that can melt ! (batteries, plastic parts, also heatsink is not practical) !!!
