I have a DVI I to DVI I cable but has a DVI D to DVI D ports (GPU and Monitor). Can I snap out the 4 pins of the DVI I to DVI I, to make it a DVI D to DVI D cable?

Solution
The first picture - DVI-I dual link connector on a cable
Second picture - DVI-D dual link connector on a monitor.
They are standard.
A DVI-I cable does not work with DVI-D ports.
A DVI-D cable does work with DVI-I ports.
And to continue...
A DVI-I dual link cable does not work with DVI-I single link ports.
Same for DVI-D.

it's easy to understand.

I also realised that even if I snap out those 4 pins, i still wont be able to plug it in because the middle one of that 4 pins is still larger than that of the ports.

I have never had an issue connecting DVI cables between PCs and various displays and I have been doing this for a very long time. I guess I have just been very lucky.

I would be interested in seeing pictures of the connectors on the cable, monitor, and PC to be on the lookout for such occurrences in the future.

Those are examples, and not the actual devices under scrutiny. True?

I know what the port types do and what is supported and what isn't. Thanks for the examples.
