Can I squeeze an SB X-Fi Recon 3D in this area on my MSI Big Bang Mpower Z77?

The physical dimensions of this soundcard are fortunately very small.

I have two GeForce GTX 680 MSI Lightning editions in SLI (these cards are physically HUGE and take up all of the slots on my motherboard except for the single PCIe 1x at the very top.

I was hoping there might be enough room on the very top PCIe 1x slot to fit in a SB X-Fi Recon 3D for enthusiast gaming audio.

Solution

Yes you can. Thats a x1 PCI express interface. The card is x1, so yes it will fit.

I was asking if the soundcard would be physically obstructed by the massive graphics card or the motherboard's heatsink.

Yes, it's going to fit. Take a look this build, the first picture will solve your concern. http://pcpartpicker.com/b/zIG

I have the GTX 680 MSI Lightning edition and I'm not sure if the soundcard might be obstructed by the metal backplate or GPU reactor.

Don't worry, it will still fit. If it doesn't, I'll send you $5 via Paypal. My promise.
