I want to get a car headset but I heard the oculus 1 isn’t supported anymore it’s really cheap and I don’t want to get a more expensive model but can you still download games for it?

In this case the OQ1 is perfectly fine for you, most of the games are compatible with OQ1 except some games with latest updates to take full advantage of the new OQ2's hardware.
