Can i swap my i3 core with an i5/i7

I have an i3 core computer with an ASUS 7H55-M motherboard LGA1156 socket, it says its compatible with any intel cores on the box but i was wondering if i could just open my computer and make a swap.

I'm currently running on an i3 540 @ 3.07GHz

well it depends on your BIOS version you might need to update/flash your BIOS to be compatible on other CPU.

Thanks, do you think I could probably do this at home or would you recommend me to just go to the shop and ask them to fix it?

well if your comfortable doing it yourself go and do it..just make sure to read and watch vids on youtube on to properly do it. but if your not so sure let the pro's do it..but it will cost you.
