Can I swap out my laptop CPU ?

My laptop (xps l501x)
It comes with a core i5 -460M
And when I opened it up , I found it was socketed rather than soldered
If I want to, can I swap it out for something else ?
Maybe at least a processor of the same chipset family

You could even go for a 45 watt core i7 quad, but you will have to purchase a new power supply for your laptop. I assume you now have a 90 watt supply, you will need a 120 watt one.

Thanks . I am thinking of upgrading it. I know that it'd be just better to buy a new laptop since this is old and quite inefficient but I wanna do it just for the fun of it

Make sure you reapply the thermal paste when upgrading the CPU
