So this is probably a stupid question but I am just starting to work on my computer myself. I believe my GTX 570 is done (three years old games freezing/monitor losing signal) Can I just buy a GTX 960 and simply unplug the 570 and plug in the 960? I feel like it should work but i was worried because i believe the 570 is 64 bit and the 960 is 128.

That should work fine. GTX960 should use a lot less power then the old GTX570.

After you install it, you'll want to update to the latest Nvidia drivers.

It'll work fine. They both use PCI-E x16, which is enough for both cards.

Also, this rarely occurs, but installing a new graphics card might screw with your current driver and with being able to use your PC in general. Should this happen to you, just see if it works when you've got the GTX 960 installed, and if it doesn't, put your 570 back in so that everything works again, then uninstall drivers, put in the GTX 960 and reinstall. The chance of this happening is really low, though.
