I have a 2TB HDD and am building a new PC, I really dont want to buy a new Hard Drive or copy of windows...
Can I just format my Hard drive and plug it in to my new pc, then reuse the activation code i used on my old PC for windows 8?

Also will I still be able to upgrade to windows 10 for free? Im building this PC in a month or so

Help?

Solution
1. yes. hard drive can go into new system. you cannot reuse the windows key unless it is a retail version (assuming motherboard change). did the key come with the PC you have now? if yes then you probably have an OEM copy and will need a new key.
2. no. today is the last day for the upgrade for free so if not today then no.
hope this helps

Actually if you are lucky you can just pop in the hard drive and set boot priority but ther is a chance windows wil refused to load after so many components have been changed, some get away with gpu, cpu, ram and motherboard but others are not so lucky.IMO you sould just give it a go as you have nothing to lose except a few minutes. And yes,the copy of windows still has all its priviledges
