I bought computer at auction and it has no OS. If I bought another one with windows 7, could I make the drive with widows 7 a master and slave the other hard drive without operating system. Thank you

Just read in one of the other threads that windows 7 is tied to the mother board on factory made computers. So could I use the w7 hard drive on a different motherboard. think I got in over my head. Was trying to get away from spending a fortune for my sons birthday gift. Got a nice tower and was going to switch everything. Then found out no operating system and definitely dont want to spend another 150. Any advice is welcome and I truley am grateful.

That really depends. It is all random because many users have informed that their licenses don't remain valid after switching to other mobos while some have informed that Windows work perfectly on other mobo. My own experience is same. After changing system, Windows 7 is working perfectly and license is valid (Reason not known).

Can't really say what will happen with your Windows.
