Sooo im building a new pc and but i want the data from my old pc as well. My old hardrive is 1tb and the new hardrive is 1tb as well. Thing is my old data is windows7 and my new data is windows 8 is it ok if i put the old hardrive in with the new hardrive in my new pc? Also if the two hardrives are different will they still work?

Solution
Yes, when you install a new OS, it will delete anything (programs, files, documents, etc), so you will want to back up any files and documents, mp3 audio, to a storage device (flash drive, HDD, DVD) before attempting to install the new OS. Any programs you had on the old HDD will have to be reinstalled once the new OS is up and running.

Into a whole new PC, you will probably need to do a full reinstall of the OS
You might need to buy a new OS.

Now....What OS do you have to install? Do you have the license key as well?

The license key. The 25 character string that lets you activate it.
The part that actually costs money.

If you install a new OS (Win 8), it will overwrite whatever is on that drive.
