Is there any way I can turn my daily phone into a universal remote?
A remote I can change channels or music with. I think this is unlikely without wireless access keys, but I'm curious.

You can use a harmony hub. That's what I have. It's a small IR hub that can control many devices and be controlled from your phone.

You can buy a cheap IR dongle too that plugs into the headphone jack of some phones but its big and hangs off the phone like a sore thumb, not something to have on your phone all the time.

Any of the hub's can be controled with a phone, or the remote if you get a remote version.

http://www.irdroid.com/ Or that hanging off your phone with a battery. lol.

Yeah, the Irdroid is overkill and impractical. I'm looking to use just my phone alone. ( or is that impossible?)
I'm mostly looking to do this to mess with my brother and neighbor. Obnoxiously loud music all the time.

According to Gam3r01's link your phone has an IR blaster in it already.

Aha! True. I just forgot to read into that link. It says smart remote requires some setup. I know I've tried it on my tv and it asks me to restart my tv.
Do you know if I can just hook in with systems without any hassle?

I was just messing around with Peel remote with my family on the TV. HAHAHA damn it's funny. It works perfectly.
