Question Can I turn off my gpu while PC is still running?

I'm doing all my downloads during the night, while I sleep. So for more silence I'd like to know if it's possible for me to turn off the gpu. PC will shut down after download and I when I'd turn on GPU would start like normal.

is it possible?

I honestly don't think you can turn off just your GPU, while the system is still ON and running the download. Why do you want to do this ? Because of the FAN noise ? Which Video card is it ? Do the fans always SPIN, when the GPU is getting power ? Does it require an external power connector ?

Can you control the fan speed by using any GPU utility/tool, like MSI AB ?

Just install MSI Afterburner, then change fan speed to 0%

make and model of the psu?
check the ram usage when it crash(before you termanate it in task manger)?
12GB ram? mixing ram, did you run mem test?

I don't have integrated graphics, so GPU is always running. I have rx 580 and i5 9400f
