Can I turn on my laptop without battery life?

The connection part of my laptop is broken (I accidentally banged it on wall while it was plugged in) Is there any way that I can turn my laptop on without a battery (like from mains) I am a photographer and a lot of my work is on the laptop, but I can no longer access it.

What connection is damaged? the connection where you plug the adapter into the laptop ( power jack ) or the connection that the battery plugs into on the laptop.

Connection on the laptop. I think the prong inside is bent.
