[SOLVED] Can I update a very old BIOS? AmiBIOS on an Asus M2V

Hi,

I have an old PC with an Asus M2V motherboard and it has Amibios version 1706 on it dated 04/30/07. It has never been updated. It's so old I can't boot from USB, the only options are to boot from floppy drive, hard drive or DVD drive.

If I update this bios would it then be able to boot / install Windows from USB?

And would I be able to update it with AMI's bios update toolfor Windows or would I have to install the new bios via DVD or floppy somehow? Many thanks.

Wow, that is an oldie. Yes, you should be able to update the BIOS from a flash drive (FAT formatted) using Asus EZFlash. See page 4.4 of the owners manual for instructions.
