Question Can I update to a newer GPU driver with an old Win 10 version?

I reinstalled my laptop recently and stopped the Windows 10 updates, because of the perfomance issues. I decided to play some games, managed to install a previous GPU driver, which is 2 months old, but when the new driver came out, I couldn't install it. The Nvidia driver installer claims, that my Windows version is old. It's 1709 and I don't want to update it. Can I install the new GPU drivers without updating my OS?

See if you can extract the drivers from the .exe and then go into device manager and update the drivers from the GPU side. There may be issues with missing components and you might not get the updated driver control panel though.

Newer versions of Windows 10 are just as fast as older ones once you run a few 'cleaning' tools to get rid of the telemetry (and other) crap. What issues are you having with the latest version?

My iusses were high CPU and HDD usage, as well as stuttering in games, low fps and crashes. I was also forced to play on very low graphics. Now I play GTA 5 with a reinstalled OS and I can run it without any issues. However, my PC was getting slower over the past few months with the new updates Microsoft was releasing for Win 10. When I go to the system settings, it says that my version is Win 10 Pro 1709. It's a legit copy of Win10. I had an IT specialist install it for free, because he is a sibling. Anyway, I don't get any updates and I fear that my laptop will go back to it's "broken" State if I update it. Im not familiar with such tools. Are they any free?

If you didn't purchase a legitimate license key then we're done here. There is absolutely no support given to anyone running pirated software. There's no need to run a pirated copy of Windows 10 anyway as, except for a periodic watermark in the lower right corner and the ability to change the desktop wallpaper being denied, you can run Windows 10 unlicensed (at least at the moment).
