Question Can I upgrade a 1080Ti w/ current equipment?

Hello!

My current equipment works good for flight sims and very good for racing sims. I did notice that F1 2022 recommends a 1660Ti. I imagine that Flight Simulator 2020 would benefit from an upgraded video card also.

Can anyone tell me if I would be able to only upgrade my 1080Ti 11G to possibly a 3080Ti 12G+ or a 40x0 16GB+?

Thanks!

If your psu is a quality unit of 750w or preferably more, you can run a 3080ti.

But, as a test,
Run YOUR games, but lower your resolution and eye candy.
This makes the graphics card loaf a bit.
If your FPS increases, it indicates that your cpu is strong enough to drive a better graphics configuration.
If your FPS stays the same, you are likely more cpu limited.

Yes, the FPS do increase when I lower the resolution, AI traffic and graphic settings on the flight simulators.

Thank you for the replies and advice!

FWIW the 1080 Ti is quite a bit better than the 1660 Ti is. I always use the Tom's GPU Heirarchy as a good first look at card performance: https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html

Your PSU should be good enough for pretty much anything upgrade wise though I wouldn't try running over 450W GPU.
