iv also upgraded the Graphics card and powersupply with a 700 watt antec and a HD 5870 this is why i want to change my mobo to get a better processer :) thanks for your time any thoughts would be appreciated

sure. a new motherboard would be a standard size and shape, ATX, microATX, miniATX or whatever. Just get a case that's big enough to fit it. The GPU is still PCI-E, the PSU should also be a standard ATX size. Keep in mind the size of the PSU in case you get a smaller case where some drives or cages may interfere (and some microATX and mini-ITX cases may not accept a full size ATX PSU).

As soon as you change the motherboard you will need to buy a new OS. The old one's license is tied to the old MB.

And don't expect that plugging in the old hard drive into a new motherboard will work either. Driver configuration will no longer match.

But putting the old hardware in a bigger case so you can add more extras to the existing motherboard is perfectly fine.

Just keep in mind some of those premade systems have unique power supply connectors so getting a different / bigger power supply might be a problem so do your research.

I am also buying a new PC and I was wondering if I can upgrade the gpu using the same mobo and psu. I know psu's get more watts with the newer gpus but i am trying to save some cash. Here is the PC :http://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=N82E16883229496R
