It's unlikely. There are other processors with the same PGA478 socket, but most laptop manufacturers make CPU upgrades impossible. You need to check with Toshiba for a list of supported processors. I'm guessing the list is short. You may have to take the whole laptop apart to get to the CPU anyway. I would advise you not to attempt it unless you really know what you're doing. Mobile CPU's are often overpriced as well.

I have a Compaq CQ56 with the same processor. I'm considering the Intel Pentium T4500, it has the same specs, same socket, same power requirements, but it's dual core w/ hyper-threading. I've seen them online for around $65-$70

Make sure you use an ESD strap, and good thermal grease. ;-)

It might be possible to upgrade CPUs . I did mine Vaio upgraded from a t7100 to a x7900 X and OC thru windows. Things to keep in minds is the compatibility of the sockets and type of architecture of the CPU. ie my Vaio factory is a merom CPU and I wanted to upgrade to the newer Penryn I had to do an update of the BIOS in order for it to recognize the new CPU. Other stuff is the TDP witch it would preferably have to be equal or less, in my case is higher and the result is a hotter PC because i didn't do any mods to the heat sink so the fan is always on. but it runs better than a new one at 3.2GHZ 4GB ddr2 7,200RPM HHD
