I really want to upgrade because I do work that requires CPU usage. I got an I5 7400 and I would like to know if I can go for the I7 7700K. Also, if I can upgrade, do I need to update my BIOS? my motherboard is AsRock H170m Pro 4 (Stocket 1151)
I should tell my full specs:
CPU: I5 7400 3ghz
GPU: GTX 1070
Motherboard: ASRock H170M Pro 4
RAM: 8Gb DDR4, DRAM 1066Mhz, Single Channel
Memory: 1TB HDD, 240GB SSD
Windows 10 64b bit Home
If there is need for anything else please tell!
If you are using i5 7400 on that system now then you can upgrade to 7700K just fine. Both 7400 and 7700k requiring the same bios so if the PC booted with the i7 7400 then it will boot with 7700k without any problem.
But it's better to just update to the latest bios before installing 7700K just to be on the safe side.
