Can I upgrade my cm1630 asus essentio with an amd fx 6core?

When I replaced my old CPU with a new one I bought off the internet which is the AMD FX 6300. My Computer power light didn't come on but my computer did make similar beeps just not the windows beep. I tried updating my bios from Asus' website but when I open the zip files they don't work for some reason so any input would be great. I also have a GTX 550 TI NVidia video card.

They are not compatible. Also, you have to extract an ISO file to a CD or flash drive (make sure it's empty), and boot from it. In the future, not on this one, because it won't work.

Well, that is a dated socket, so don't expect anything really powerful. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103913 That is the best you can get with your socket, so I would upgrade to a new motherboard and see if you can fix your 6300.

So I'm going to send that chip back what Motherboard Could I upgrade too? Should I hold on to the chip and install it in the motherboard I'm sorry I'm new to this.

Get a newer MB, you should never just buy any CPU off the NET and expect it to work in your PC. You should ALWAYS make sure.

An M5A97 R2 is a good motherboard for the 6300.

Well I heard really good things about the AMD Sabertooth, if you're still going to use FX CPUs.

The Sabertooth is a good motherboard, but also very expensive. It's really only for serious overclocking.
