Can I upgrade my GTX 780?

I was wondering if I could upgrade my GPU or if I should just build a new System. My current specs are
I7 3770
GTX 780
PS 800W
RAM 16 GB
Windows 7
Monitor Acer XB240H G-Sync

If so what GPU would you recommend?

Yep. Sure can. Fps is a limitation of the cpu, details is a limitation of the gpu. On a 1080p/144Hz monitor, with a i7-3770 you may or may not have enough fps possibility to always hit 144fps+ but a stronger gpu will make what fps you can achieve look a whole lot better.

As Karadjgne stated, at 1080p your CPU has a lot to do with FPS. As You increase the resolution to 1440p or 2160p the CPU has less effect and puts more onto the GPU. You may want to upgrade the rest in the near future.

Try this test:
Run YOUR games, but lower your resolution and eye candy.
If your FPS increases, it indicates that your cpu is strong enough to drive a better graphics configuration.
If your FPS stays the same, you are likely more cpu limited.

3770 is still a good processor.
I suspect you would do well with a stronger graphics card.
