The above info is not correct as a general statement. It depends on the chipset. I upgraded my 2012 HP Pavilion G7 from an Ivy Bridge i3 to an i7. Some processors are flip socket swappable, others are socket soldered to the motherboard and not replaceable. You would either have to get on Sony's support forum to find out or take it apart yourself and see how Sony dealt with the socket.
I knew my laptop was up-gradable before buying it. They are not easy to take apart and work on.
