awesome system from what i see
if i overclock would a custom watercool loop be better?
Honestly, I don't think it would be worth it. The amount of volts you would need to put through the system to get to something like 5 ghz would shorten the lifespan of cpu. A closed loop cooler like the h105 the one I have enables me to get to 4.6ghz with pretty low watts but the second you get near 1.3 volts the temps start to sky rocket. So depending on the custom water cooling it can push you to 5 ghz depending on your chip. So essentially what I'm saying is if you spent even 500 dollars on a water cooling system it may not yield an overclock that you would find worth it.
Actually you could get a 360MM RAD and CPU block for ~$300. I should know, I have done it myself.
Still probably more then your typical pc builder would want to do. I know its appealing to me but the maintenance involved would bug even with distilled water. And fittings can get expensive. For most I would say air cooling or closed loop. With his build if you are putting 300 out there wise as well put that money somewhere else like his pocketses.
Yeah, the way I figured it was that my processor cost me $200. If I were to burn it up over clocking, I would have to pay another $200 for a new one. Thats $400 total spent on processors. So I then decided I had a max budget of $400 to spend on a water-cooling loop. I only spent $320, and I used coolant with an anti-microbal agent in it to make maintenance negligible.
