Currently, I have a Compaq Presario CQ5110F Desktop PC with apparently

Pegatron M2N68-LA motherboard.

1) I think the this motherboard has a AM2 socket. Can you put in the AMD Phenom II Quad Core processer which I belive is AM3 Socket.

If so, will I need to add any additional fans for this?

2) I noticed on HP site that it says it supports PC2-6400 memory, does that mean I can not go to DDR3 memory module?

Thanks for the q rply.

Any reason why they say it supports

* Socket: AM2+
* Supports the following processors:
o AMD Phenom II Quad-Core
o AMD Phenom II Triple-Core
o AMD Phenom Quad-Core (Agena core) 9xxx series (AM2+)
o AMD Phenom Triple-Core (Toliman core) 8xxx series (AM2+)
o AMD Athlon X4
o AMD Athlon X3
o AMD Athlon X2 (Brisbane) (AM2+)

This is why I asked. I am getting conflicting answers. On another post, I saw someone say it does.
