Here is the deal, I am currently running windows 7 RC which will expire in 2 weeks.

I have a copy of windows xp 32bit.

What is my best option here?

Can I just purchase a windows 7 64bit upgrade?
Do I have to install windows xp first before install the windows 7 upgrade or is there a way to install windows 7 directly by just providing the windows xp key?

I am not sure what is my best option atm.

Thanks

Solution
Yes you can get the W7 upgrade.
No need to install XP as in either case a clean install is required.
You will need to do a clean install by booting from the W7 disk, run setup and choose custom install.
Windows will put your old instalation into a Windows.old folder which you can delete later.
Save your files and settings using the W7 Windows Eazy Transfer Wizard before you start. Once you have finished installing the new OS you can restore your files and settings with the Windows Eazy Transfer Wizard.
