So my uncle gave me an old HP Compaq DC7800. I know it support up to 8GB of DDR2 RAM. And I can see from this website the CPU can be upgraded https://www.manualslib.com/manual/275291/Hp-Compaq-Dc7800.html?page=35

But I am trying to meet the minimum specs for the following games:

CSGO
CoD: WAW
CoD: BO3

Of course 2 of thoughs arent exactly out of reach but the last one is stretching it. I know it will support the minimum RAM, GPU, and clock speed if i used AMD (Which im not using) Is there a way (with or without replacing the whole OEM mobo) to upgrade the CPU to meet the minimum requirements? And if so, how would i do this and what parts do i need. I currently have my own custom built pc which i did myself, but i dont know where to begin with old OEM PC's. Tahnks to all who reply :)

So in conclusion, Im going to buy the following for the upgrade.

CPU: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002LHPIYS/ref=ox_sc_act_title_5?smid=A1PY2TJ4XEJEFD&psc=1

Memory: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0050D6KXI/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A38NZOGK1EZGST&psc=1

GPU: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MG0733A/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 (or do i want the low profile option?)

Power Supply: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01B72VXE6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

But im wondering if i should also buy a better CPU cooler, because the stock wont allow for decent Overclocking, and if i get a better CPU cooler, which to get and do i need a bigger watt power supply?

Also i think this is the final question... haha fianlly right XD

Do you really just not want to buy a used processor? Because for the price the Q9550 is a better processor with lower TDP. My own experience replacing laptops, and desktops with used processors have worked out for me many times without problems.
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Processor 2.83GHz 1333MHz 12MB LGA 775 CPU, OEM Processor 2.83GHz 1333MHz 12MB LGA 775 CPU, OEM

The power supply is fine, and you will need to get a good CPU cooler. A lot of new ones are LGA 775 compatible.

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO RR-212E-20PK-R2 CPU Cooler with 120mm PWM Fan is tall and you might need to get a short one.
Heat Sink Dimensions: 4.6 x 2.0 x 6.3 inches You need 6.3 inches clearance from the CPU to the side of the case for this cooler.

Don't forget to buy thermal paste!

So do you recommend that cooler? its a bit tall, it might fit though...

I am not opposed to that processor btw, and could care less if its used, but can i even use that one on the board?

Do you have a ruler to measure inside of the case from the processor to the side of the case to find the length. I'm using the hyper 212 evo for my i5 right now with H1 thermal paste. My case is large enough to fit it. This is my case. https://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-HAF-912-RC-912-KKN1-GP/dp/B003ZM7YTA/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1499735339&sr=1-1&keywords=cooler+master+case+haf

Solution

Its a little less than 6.50' in from the processor to the side panel of the case. Would it fit? Maybe, but is there an alternative that would for sure fit?

See if there is enough room.
