I have a Acer Veriton x2631 Desktop. It is slowing down. I'll need to upgrade to Windows 10 from 7, which will slow it down even more. Can I upgrade RAM myself with limited knowledge? With the current processor, will upgrading RAM even increase the speed enough? I also want to do photo editing as well. Help. These are my computer specs. Thank you so much for having this place to ask. https://www.newegg.com/acer-veriton...iness-desktops-workstations/p/N82E16883103966

4GB of ram is very low even just for basic tasks, Youtube pages will struggle to load. For everyday use 8GB is plenty. Upgrading to 8GB of RAM and SSD would have that PC working great, but just going to 8GB is a good start.

Forgive my ignorance, but if I add an 8GB can I keep the existing 4GB as well -- giving me 12GB, or does the 8GB replace the original 4GB? Thank you for your quick response. I'll look into the SSD as well.

Adding another 4GB thus upgrading to 8GB total.

Just as a compare and contrast, I have a much newer and more powerful PC for gaming... But for everyday use your "old" i5 processor, with 8GB of ram and a SSD would be prefectly fine.
