I have a HP Pavilion H8-1145sc, which is about 5 years old. Since i only want to play at 1080p 60fps in most games (excluding graphics intense AAA games) the only thing i see that needs upgrading is the gpu since ram and cpu already seem powerful enough (16gb / Intel i7 2600). However im unsure if a new gpu would even work or be able to install it into the pc and i know very little about advanced stuff that could affect that. I was thinking about a gtx 1050 or 1060 since im a broke student :(

The only site with more specs i could find are stores that used to sell it since hp support seems broken. This is a link to a swedish store that used to sell this pc with all the details. The specs are under "Tekniska specifikationer". The motherboard is a IPISB-CH2 Chicago. My main conceen though is the 460W PSU. Since its not a brand psu or anything it could be a crappy one too and i dont want to waste $150 to see my pc go down in flamws

All I can say Is to use lower TDP gpu than your current one. (W) 116 is 550 TI so 1060 6 GB is to much :) Maximum 120 W.
BUT here we have 2 options:
1060 3 GB which is also 120W, BUT a bit less cuda and less ram, should accumulate to a point of lower TDP matching 116W of old card.
OR you can go with 1050 TI that is way lower power and should work just fine.
Recommended PSU for 1060 is 400W so 460 even old and crappy one might be enough.
I would try 1060 3 GB
