System Model: HP Laptop 15-da0036nr
CPU: Intel Pentium N5000
Motherboard/Mainboard: HP, 84AA, PCI-Express 2.0
Memory: Installed RAM 4.00 GB (DDR 4, 2400 MHz)

I'm looking to see what is the max memory I can upgrade to, I checked command prompt with the memphysical get maxcapacity, memory devices command and it came up with max capacity of 16,777,216 (in kilobytes) and memory devices or slots of 2. Does that mean I can buy two 8 GB memory slots and install them into my computer? My 2nd slot in my laptop is empty.

Yes you can. Just make sure on hp website that the mobo support the ram and speed.

When getting 2x8gig kit, you must remove old ram module and install the 2 8 gigs, dont mix them

Turn the laptop over. Bottom facing up. With a small phillips screwdriver, open the ram cover. Check if there is two slots for ram. Then you can decide what to do. Check on the ram in there, the speed and model of the ram.

Remove the batery before opening the cover

I see no way for me to remove the battery

Some motherboards don't have 2 slots. They have a single additional slot but the first ram is soldered to the motherboard, not slotted. Some only have a single slot, especially older, budget models.

This from Crucial.

Maximum memory: 8GB

*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.

Slots: 1 (1 bank of 1)

Standard memory: 4GB removable
I've not known them to be wrong about memory specs, ever. They say you can run 2400 - 3200 ram.

So I would be better off getting the 3200 8 GB RAM and removing the 4 GB?

Something doesn't add up. According to the net, multiple sources, that model you listed only has 1 slot, factory 4Gb removable, 8Gb max.

So unless the motherboard was changed by a prior owner or the case reused from a different model or it was a special order piece or even a reuse of an existing model, it should only have 1 slot.

So not sure exactly what's up with that report of 2 slots, which would normally be a max of 16Gb since all those newer budget laptops use at least 8Gb ports.

Yeah I'm unsure too. I used CPU-Z and it said my first slot was empty. I can provide you a link of my exact laptop and it's company where I got it from. https://www.rentacenter.com/medias/100024397-specs.pdf?context=bWFzdGVyfE1hbnVhbHN8Njc1ODQ4fGFwcGxpY2F0aW9uL3BkZnxzeXMtbWFzdGVyL01hbnVhbHMvaDAwL2gyYi85MjAwMzc3NTYxMTE4LzEwMDAyNDM5N19zcGVjcy5wZGZ8YTQxNzUxZTQ3ZDhlNjljYWMxMjhhYWE3NTcxMWE4OTRiZjI5NmVkM2FiODdkOWJhNzQ2Y2VhM2NjMjBlYzBjNA

I also looked up some more information.

I looked up the northbridge and for the gemini lake host, and it brought this up

Overall I'm really confused whether my max is 8 or 16. Because my windows command prompt is telling me I have a max capacity of 16 GB memory when I converted the kilobytes to gigabytes, and then the websites are saying this.
