[SOLVED] Can i upgrade to a i5-9400F?

I currently have a Asus PRIME B250M-K motherboard and an i5-7500, and i was looking to upgrade. I have looked and the socket for the motherboard is LGA1151 which is the same socket however it says it supports 6th and 7th generation intel cpu's and the i5-9400F is 9th gen. Can i still upgrade or would I have to get a new motherboard? thanks in advance

The I5-9400f is not compatible with B250 motherboards. You need to buy a new motherboard.
The 9400f will work with a B365 or a Z390(the 9400f is a locked chip, so don't bother with this chipset) motherboard out of the box(without needing a BIOS update).
