Question Can I Upgrade to the following ram ? Im confused -_-

Hi Guys,

I have upgraded my GA-H61MA-D3V to an i5 2500 from i3 2120 and im in the process of adding some new ram. Ive just bought some Corsair CML8GX3M2A1600C9 (8 GB, PC3-12800 (DDR3-1600), DDR3 RAM, 1600 MHz, DIMM). I think the mobo can take it but reading on CPU boss i dont know if the new CPU will take it ? Could some one just clear this up for me please

The guiding document is the motherboard's User Manual.

Do verify that I found the applicable manual.

Page 8 lists the supported RAM configurations.

However, there is also a note to go to Gigabyte's website for the latest information.

Likewise for the CPU.

Page 11 provides memory installation and configuration details along with two notes regarding CPU limitations.

Details matter.

Read all of it. The manual says max is 1333MHz however the latest support list ( all be it 2012 ) is saying ram with speeds of 1600MHz have been used example ( CMD8GX3M4A1600C8 )

However my CPU limitations will only run upto 1333MHz as its a gen 2 intel and not gen 3.

So my last question - what is the best DDR3 2x8GB modules with speed 1333MHz ? ( im on a budget and browsing ebay )
