Can i Upgrade my Video Card ? Description of my computer below

I brought this computer from cyberpower back in 2010 and it's still runs great

(I'm contemplating to upgrading to new computer but my main purpose of use for the computer is watching HD Movies, MV, and ocassionally old games i have like star craft and civilization)

CPU:Intel® CoreT i7-920 2.66 GHz 8M L3 Cache LGA1366
MOTHERBOARD:GigaByte GA-EX58-UD3R Intel X58 Chipset CrossFireX/SLI Support LGA1366 DDR3 ATX Mainboard w/ 7.1 Audio, GbLAN, USB2.0, SATA-II, RAID, 2 Gen2 PCIe, 2 PCIe X1 & 2 PCI
VIDEO:ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB DDR5 16X PCIe Video Card [DirectX 11 Support] (<-- I took to computer repair shop and now when i check my device manager it says "Radeon 5700 Series" i'm kinda thinking they switched it?)

any advice will be appreciated Thank you

Solution
The TDP of the 970 is just over 150W so you needn't worry , the 5750's tdp is 86W.

You've still got a couple of years left in your CPU then maybe by then you'll need to upgrade the system as a whole as the gaming industry might make use of the more cores however it seems unlikely.

For the reason of the CPU I'm leaning towards the R9 270X or the R9 285 as they aren't expensive and give good performance for your needs still the 970 might be taken into consideration when upgrading as u can put it into your newer rig.

Your CPU is tier 3 so its still got it but its aging , still can handle gaming .

It's really down to what you want to do with this rig afterwards.
Regarding the Radeon 5700 series, that's just how all those cards are referred in the device manager. I have an r9 270x and it displays as r9 200 series in device manager.

You can upgrade your video card but you'll need to post a budget so we can pick out some cards :)

I guess i'm just looking for options that's better than the current card I'm using, Whatever price I'm going to wind up paying for will be better than buying a new computer? I don't think I really need to upgrade i7 920 to i7-5820K or do i? lol

Also i'm thinking of selling it to help offset the price of buying a new computer instead?
if I do decide to sell this .. how much do you think i can sell this old computer for?

The CPU still packs a punch , no need to upgrade now . Wait a couple more years till DDR4 and X99 platforms are more mainstream then upgrade.

The Nvidia GTX 770 might be a good compliment for your build if you can find it on sale or the 970.

Similarly if you can't afford to spend so much on a dying rig then the R9 270X will do the trick.

power of these won't kill my MB? even though i do have upto 700 watts?
my CPU may still pack a punch but how much shelf life can i milk out of this CPU? i got this back 2010 lol

Thank You

Selling it won't get you much , keeping it as a spare part to test for failure or in a case of emergency is a better use for it 😀

true, either way This will be better than spending 1500 dollars i would've spent on cyberpowerpc for new configged comp
thanks again

i just got an idea, since i'm going to get the radeon 270x
can i use the old one to hook up the 3rd monitor? (using this old card as second slot? assuming i can get these two to fit in to my MB slot)

The 270X can support upto 6 Displays , no need to plug in the 2nd card as it won't work.

how do i get up to 6 display?
i see only one HDMI and VGA slot? lol
