I built my first PC in October 2015 and am now looking to upgrade the graphics card. The whole process gives me a bit of anxiety as I dont want to get a new card only to find I have to end up replacing the entire computer to run it.

My current specs are:
Intel i7 6700
Gtx 970
8gb of ram(will also be upgrading to 16)
500 watt evga power supply

Cant rember the specifics on psu and ram but hopefully thats enough to go off of.
I would like to upgrade to the 1070. Please let me know if i can do this with my setup without changing anything else! Otherwise let me know what to swap.

Solution
Sure the 1070 takes less power than the 970. The i7 is more than enough for the 1070 and 16GB would be great. The 1151 has the latest PCIE 3.0 slot for the 1070. I would like the see which 1070 and the case to see if it fits.
You shouldn't have to change anything to go from a GTX 970 to a GTX 1070. In fact i believe you could go to a GTX 1080 and see no problems at all.

500W is a little low, i'd rather see a 600W, but if it is running fine with a 970 it should be fine with a 1000 series card.

Thanks for the quick replies! The case is a Rosewill REDBONE. The card id like to get is the EVGA Superclocked 8gb one. But have a selection of a few others if that wont quite fit
